Spring is in the air. People are finally venturing out. What a better opportunity to have our Fourth Annual Storefront Art Walk (or SAW). The SAW gives local artists the opportunity to work with 5th Avenue merchants, to create art that has an aesthetic connection to its surroundings. From May 18 through June 21, storefronts will exhibit extraordinary works of art. For a map of participating 5th Avenue merchants, go to

On Wednesday, February 27th, a meeting was held at Our Lady of Angels auditorium regarding the youth and drug problems along 5th Avenue. In attendance with concerned 5th Avenue merchants were Councilman Vincent Gentile; Captain Richard DiBlasio (Commanding Officer of the 68th Precinct); Josephine Beckmann (District Manager of Community Board 10); Marc J. Fliedner (Chief Executive Assistant District Attorney-Major Narcotics Investigations Bureau), along with several other local officials. A good meeting!
